Frequently Asked Questions

  • In short, as soon as possible.

If you like our creative vibe and narrative style and want to ensure you secure your date in our books, then contacting us as soon as practical is essential.

We don’t film at multiple events on the same date, so once a date is booked and contracted it is no longer available.

Once you have set the wedding date and secured your wedding venue booking your preferred videographer and photographer or any other service where the day is blocked out for your event forms part of the challenge around securing your preferred service providers.

To reduce the stress Sinclair Wedding Films have a cancellation policy giving you up to 14-days to receive a full refund. Subject to our terms and conditions.

  • Upon receiving your enquiry we will follow-up with a personal email, as soon as possible, which will confirm our availability and the next steps.

In the follow-up email there will be a link to a secure service, which will enable you to pick a date and time to schedule a free consultation with us via a remote call. Upon picking a date and time that is available you will receive a confirmation email with the date and time selected. You can also use the details in calendar invite email to reschedule, or if needed, cancel the booked call.

  • If you decide to use the services of Sinclair Wedding Films, you are asking us to block out a date or dates, which means we can not book anyone else on these dates.

A contract will be signed by both parties, as a legally binding agreement. This is to protect both parties and to confirm what will be delivered by Sinclair Wedding Films.

Your date will be confirmed and secured with a £350 deposit and upon receipt of the signed agreement. The remaining balance is due 8 weeks before the date of your event with payment made by bank transfer to the account detailed within the agreement.

    Cancellation Policy

Should you, for any reason, have to cancel the booking, the following charges will be applicable:

Within 14 days of the effective date on the agreement - Full Refund.

32 to 8 weeks notice prior to the wedding date: 50% of the remaining balance is payable and the booking fee is retained by the Videographer.

Less than 8 weeks notice prior to the wedding date: 100% of the remaining balance is payable and the booking fee is retained by the Videographer.

  • Yes. This is to secure your booking for our wedding videos services and save the date for your special day. We ask for a deposit for all of our wedding video film services.

The deposit is paid when the contract is signed, with the remaining balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to your big day.

  • As professional filmmaker’s we are aware how important time is, and will work closely with your photographer(s) to ensure any disruption is minimal.

We will cover the details of your specific requirements 8-weeks prior to the wedding day.

During the wedding our approach is to be very discreet to ensure we get the most natural imagery of your magical day.

There may be the need for some minor direction on the day - as you would expect with your photographer.

For example, if we know in advance of anyone not wishing to be filmed, we would announce any shots that might include them, or if we are taking drone images for social media posting we will need to ensure people are in the right place at the right time.

  • There are many factors around drone cover, such as the location preventing use, proximity to airspace, and weather conditions, which would prevent the use of a drone on the day.

Risk assessments are undertaken prior to your wedding day, which is why a consultation and knowing the venue early in the process is essential.

Drone cover forms part of ‘The Works’ package at no extra cost. This is because of the factors outside of our collective control for filming, which we covered earlier in this answer.

I can’t wait to hear about the day you have planned.

  • I only operate drones with a sub-250 gram flying weight, which are exempt from the Operational Authorisations required for heavier drones. However, I fly in accordance with UK drone laws and hold the required liability insurance.

  • Yes, I have public liability insurance and aviation liability insurance – both cover up to the value of £1,000,000 each.

  • No we don’t need an in-person consultation before you make a booking. We can do the initial free consultation remotely. A phone call or video chat is a great way to chat through the details of your special day, get to know us more, and gives you an opportunity to make an informed decision about the wedding videographer you’d like to invest in and use for your special day.

However, if you have booked with us, we do prefer an in-person meeting, although there have been occasions where this has not been possible due to our couples availability. An in-person consultation helps to build rapport, cover the details of your day in more detail, and understand and revisit the items we discussed in your initial consultation - we advise doing this around 8-weeks before the event and ideally at the venue.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to travel for pre-meets before a booking is confirmed due to my filming and editing schedule.

  • As well as wedding videography filming in Hampshire, I also cover the following areas:

West Sussex | East Sussex | Berkshire | Kent | Greater London | Hertfordshire | Oxfordshire | Buckinghamshire | Wiltshire | Dorset | Somerset and Surrey.

Additional fees will apply for locations exceeding 1.5 hours travel time from Fareham (PO14), or for destination weddings overseas. This will also include overnight accommodation (if needed) and reasonable travel expenses.

Get in touch for a quote if this may apply to your request.

  • Films are delivered from 4 weeks minimum after your wedding day (often much sooner).

Your films are delivered via VidFlow. For couples selecting ‘The Works” Film package, you’ll also have the option to receive the wedding video on a USB within a personalised presentation box.

This option is also available with other packages as an add-on.

  • Unfortunately no. This is due to copyright laws.

As it is likely the video will be available in the public sphere (social media, YouTube etc), then the use of a popular track would require appropriate licensing, which is typically prohibitive in cost.

Then there is also the style of the film produced – I choose licensed music from a reputable source for my productions, which will complement the overall narrative of the film for your special day.

As the unedited recording of the ceremony usually includes copyright music being played in the background, this footage is not permitted to be distributed in the public sphere (e.g. must not be published on social media) and is for private viewing only.

If you intend to publish the recording of your full ceremony then any copyright music can be edited and replaced with a licensed track for an additional cost.

Please cover this with me during our initial consultation.

  • I do record audio from the ceremony and especially the speeches, unless requested not to.

I use a combination of professional microphones to capture audio, and also ambient audio, which is often overlooked in production.

The lapel microphones I use are small and discreet and can be popped inside a jacket pocket.

  • Small amendments to the highlights video are included in the package cost, such as removing or substituting a clip or two.

More extensive edits are subject to an editing charge of £50 per hour.

  • Yes, please. The venue will usually have an option to cover this for your photographers and videographers when you book with them. You don’t want us feinting on the day! That’s usually left for the groom when they see how stunning their partner-to-be looks.

  • As a creative business, the films I create act as a portfolio for working with future couples, as they show the quality and style of my work. Therefore, by signing the contract you agree to the highlights film being used on my website and for marketing purposes on social media. If one of your guests objects to being included in the highlights film, please let me know, and their face can be blurred out or the clip substituted.

  • As a qualified cinematographer aka Director of Photography I professionally grade all of my work to make your film pop.

Colour grading is a process that occurs in post production. It makes the film look more natural.

This is a process used by professionals to bring to life the colour palette and stylises a films visuals.

  • Directly after we finish filming, our footage is backed up on two different drives at the studio. The footage is then backed-up to an offline storage area. This belt and braces approach is from my film industry experience, and ensures in the unlikely event that something happens, your wedding footage is safe.

  • I enjoy travel related filming. However, if your special day is taking place further away, then we will provide a quote for reasonable expenses. This will be covered during the free consultation.

We do everything we can to make this as simple and affordable as possible for our couples.

Any venues that are over 1.5 hours travel time from Fareham (PO14) may require overnight accommodation depending on the timings of your day.

The reason for this is to avoid any long, stressful car journeys, unexpected traffic issues, or disruption on the day of your filming where timing is crucial.

  • I am fully certified in ScreenSkills Coronavirus Production Training and take COVID-19 into account as a part of my risk assessment.
